ANSIBLE IS CURRENTLY ON HIATUS

Welcome, and thank you for your interest in submitting your short story to the Ansible. This is the place for the weird, the unusual, and the bizarre. If you have a well-written, well-edited, and finely-crafted short story, then the Ansible is the place for you to share it. Welcome aboard.

FICTION GUIDELINES

We’re looking for short stories that meet these criteria:

  • Word Length: Between 1,000 and 16,000 words. No exceptions.

  • Pay: The Ansible does not currently pay for submitted work. We do, however, offer a writing credit and exposure—a place for your work (and you!) to be seen and to be noticed. Your story will be promoted in a newsletter and across social media.

  • Rights: We reserve first world electronic rights only. For more info, check out Neil Clarke’s explanation here

  • Genre: Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Horror genres and their subcategories are all welcome here.

  • Content: Some language is acceptable, but not constant F-bombs. No graphic descriptions of sexual acts, rape, murder, or excessive blood and guts, pedophilia or necrophilia, etc. Use your judgement, but err on the side of caution.

  • Absolutely NO fan-fiction. Original work only. No Exceptions.

We will not divulge your personal information, including email, names, etc, unless compelled to by law, or given explicit permission from the author. You will never receive spam from us, and we shall never sell your information to any one — ever.
